Into the wild....
ally told me about this movie and i went last week to the rialto in santa rosa to see it... it had me stuck for days, pieces of it constantly coming to mind... the way that all truly good movies do. i thought it was beautifully done, but more importantly i found this boy's story very intriging. i'm sure all of us can relate to the passion inside him for freedom, for truth, for the bare, raw, naked reality of life. we die often in pursuit of truth, en route to beauty, but that's the chance we willingly take at departure. each time i step on a plane i have a moment, realizing that i am leaving the security of life as i know it and find myself at the complete mercy of god and his world... could be dangerous, we think, what if... but each time, i let that little fear settle within me, and continue... whistling perhaps, because i remember everything i'm getting on the plane for... the possibility of greater truth, a better life, a better self... these things are certainly worth fighting for, worth moving across the world, worth risking everything, even worth dying. we lose when we settle, when we accept, that we're out of options, that life will cease to change, grow, expand, enlighten... we die the slow death of stagnancy.
let us allow this man's story to remind us to never be afraid to fight for more.
here is some information and words about the real alexander supertramp.
