a few good books... Empty a few good books...

juni reminds me that i wanted to share a few books with ya'll.

first off, The Cosmic Serpent, Jeremy Narby, is absolutely amazing. Terrence McKenna-esque philosphies on Amazonian ethnobotany, Ayuhuasca, with links to.... be brave... molecular biology.
Amazing, and written in a humble, detective-story kind of way. not so serious. it sucked me in.

Secondly, anything from Wade Davis. He's a brilliant antropologist/ethnobotanist, he speaks a great deal on the plight on the world's indigenous people's, and the rapid loss of diverse languages. many references to indigenous plant-use.
" The ultimate tragedy is not that archaic societies are disapperaing but rather that vibrant, dynamic, living cultures and languages are being forced out of existence. ....[we lose] the artistic, intellectual and spiritual expression of the full complexity and diversity of the human experience."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bL7vK0pOvKI here's a nice little lecture that sums up the premise of Light at the Edge of the World, i've started The Clouded Leopard, which is also amazing, and there is also The Serpent and the Rainbow and One River.

and, Food of the Gods, by Terrence McKenna. I just started it, but his work is always amazing. I've really enjoyed a lot of his lectures, which you can find on youtube. he has a way of open our eyes to the wonder and wisdom of plants.

all of this makes me look at plants in a different way, and it seems this is the direction my interest in plants has taken since we've left school.
enjoy.
