Wildflower season Empty Wildflower season

Post by Amy Christine March 18th 2008, 3:11 am

Hi everybody!

ah, the return of spring has been like oil to me stiff and achy joints! i'm drawn like a magnet to the nearby hills, where something new always occurs to me. strange, that as a visitor to my hometown, i have come to know the wild places better than i ever did as a full-time resident.
one amazing tool that i've utilized in my ego's search to find the right names of things has been the website: www.calflora.org. It has distibutions of most of the species of plants that are found in california, as well as links to photographs and Jepson manual entries. I've found it to be invaluable in filling in the gaps in the peterson's guide. ok, so i'm a big nerd, but it's keeping me sane 'till i head off to the country...
check it out and you too can let your inner-nerdy-botanist off the leash!
